What You’ll See
The J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area is home to a diverse array of wildlife. You’ll see a variety of wading birds, sandhill cranes, and woodpeckers. Otters, bobcats, deer, pigs, and indigo snakes have also made a home out of the preserve. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of an alligator swimming through the swamps. Beware!
What to Do
On top of wildlife watching, there are many other things to do in the wildlife area. During hunting season, the area is full of hunting buggies and dog hunting. Be sure to obtain the proper hunting license before your visit, and be aware that there are bigger crowds in the preserve during this time. The J.W. Corbett area is also a popular place for fishermen.
If you prefer, set out on one of the wildlife area’s trails for an afternoon of exploration. Hike through a cypress wetland on a boardwalk or take the rugged Ocean to Lake Trail for a real challenge. How will you spend your day here?
